  • I think that those kinds of festivals are a good way to build a sense of community and a way to share yourself with your neighbors. Wherever I've seen things like this, it's always built up the area and not taken away from business but often a greater sense of community develops and everyone profits in some way.
  • In general, I agree with you, Sarita. It is indeed frustrating trying to get somewhere and not being able to because a group of people decide to hold a race of some sort. There ARE legitimate needs to close streets sometimes - parades and funerals being two examples - but for most cases it is unfair to the vast majority of people. (+3 again for another important and thoughtful question)
