It could be your pads or your rotor or the calipers so if i were you i would get all of those looked at
Get them checked. If the pads have worn down to metal you could end up having to get new discs as well as pads - a much more expensive thing. You can't blame the MOT tester for your failure to maintain your cay properly, the MOT certificate is a report on the condition of the car on the day of the test.
