Before you do that, why not try more natural remedies? I take 3 mg of Melatonin before bed for my insomnia. It's sold in the vitamin aisle. Warm bath before bed, cup of chamomile tea, and melatonin. Then read for a few minutes... I never make it past three pages. ^_^

First you must understand Hypertension is not a disease but a condition, which can be managed by 1) change in life style 2) Medication and 3) Regular exercise. Lack of sleep can be managed without medicines. Sleep sets in when the body is tired. Be assured that you may not slip into coma due to lack of sleep. You can try to take a good walk in the evenings and moderate your night food (supper or Dinner). Try to lead a tension free life. Be happy. Since you are under medication for BP,your Doctor is the best person to advise. Fortunately good medicines are available to manage Hypertension. Calmness and Moderation should be your motto in life. Vegetarian food helps to control BP. I am having hypertension for the past 35 years and come from a family of people with high BP. I wish you all the best.
