Help answer this question below.
1st Corinthians 1:1-7 (NASB) describes love this way:
"1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant,
5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,
6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."
L - Living everyday wanting to make that person happy
O - Only wanting them and no one else
V - Valuing everyday you have together
E - Erasing all of the fears and allowing yourself to love again.
:)
...baby don't hurt me don't hurt me no more!
(sorry I couldn't resist the song reference)
Seriously though, I wouldn't even know how to begin to answer this question.
Love is thinking about the other person's feelings before your own.True love is when you let go of your own ego and give your all to them without thought of payback.
Love is something different to each one of us.
My definition is knowing someone so well you know what they are thinking.
A certain look between 2 people, with nothing said, says more than words ever could.
Allowing your loved one their freedom and space they need, knowing they will always come back to you every time.
love is a feeling that you feel when youre feeling a feeling that youve never felt before..
Love is including others instead of excluding them.
It's an openness of the heart which allows us to be the way we are, and allows others to be the way they are as well.
Thinking of growing old with them, and then hoping that in your final years, you'll be the one to go first because you couldn't bear how it would feel to live without them.
...love is many things. It is the support...the glue that holds together all of what you understand and see as reality...known and unknown. It is the indescribable force that holds together the atom. It is the support of the earth beneath your feet. It is that which you breathe and that which sustains life. It is a …reLAXing INto universal...divine…support. It is a continuous flow. It is seen in everything around you. IT IS LIFE.
The life-affirming, forward moving, most powerful force in the world. Love shines the truth on the negative, the jealous, the fearful, the uninspired. Love need not respond to anger, drama, or badness. Love builds us up, and "love dares our way of caring about ourselves".... I personally define love as all that is constructive in the world... the foundation for intimacy... the tangible and the intangible nest for all things good, right, healthy, and true in this world.
caring for someone with out a single selfish thought.
I would describe it in a name and that name is GABSTAR.

What is love?
Thought I would add a little fun to a serious topic :) Enjoy.
Good question.
I asked that same question to Haddaway and Howard Jones, and they didn't know. So I asked Lou Gramm from Foreigner, and he didn't know either.
Eventually Michael Bolton told me his views on what love was all about, but while he was talking I realized that he was an idiot, and I didn't care anymore.
Sorry. I wish this had been more helpful.
love is not always a feeling, its action in one's behavior which confirms respect, trust, care and sacrifice.
it is a committment of the will.
Love is...a battlefield. (I agree with Pat Benatar on this one).
We are young, heartache to heartache we stand
No promises, no demands
Love is a battlefield
We are strong, no one can tell us were wrong
Searchin our hearts for so long, both of us knowing
Love is a battlefield
Youre beggin me to go, youre makin me stay
Why do you hurt me so bad?
It would help me to know
Do I stand in your way, or am I the best thing youve had?
Believe me, believe me, I cant tell you why
But Im trapped by your love, and Im chained to your side
We are young, heartache to heartache we stand
No promises, no demands
Love is a battlefield
We are strong, no one can tell us were wrong
Searchin our hearts for so long, both of us knowing
Love is a battlefield
Were losing control
Will you turn me away or touch me deep inside?
And before this gets old, will it still feel the same?
Theres no way this will die
But if we get much closer, I could lose control
And if your heart surrenders, youll need me to hold
We are young, heartache to heartache we stand
No promises, no demands
Love is a battlefield
We are strong, no one can tell us were wrong
Searchin our hearts for so long, both of us knowing
Love is a battlefield
We are young, heartache to heartache we stand
No promises, no demands
Love is a battlefield
We are strong, no one can tell us were wrong
Searchin our hearts for so long, both of us knowing
Love is a battlefield

When you think about someone else before you think about yourself . I think you can call that love.
boundless, deep and ever lasting
Not being able to live without another certain person (or people) in your life, thinking about them constantly- getting butterflies over your special someone... overall being "love sick" +3
Love is placing someone's welfare equal to or above your own.
It's a feeling bought on by a mix of emotions.
Love, and I mean real love,
It is a benevolent will for another, it's appreciating someones presence in your life, and doing so without the need of reciprocation.
I went out with girl that I never expected anything from, I loved her, and I never felt the need for her to return those feelings, but I also let my addiction tear us apart. She cheated on me, because she felt that I didn't show her enough attention. It hurt, but I forgave her, I took her back, because I wanted to make up for everything I didn't do for her. But as time went on, I could see she was suffering, and it killed me to see her that way. Every tear that she shed, every frown, I never wanted anything in return, I just wanted her to be happy.. even if it meant for her to find happiness in somebody else's arms. I spent so many nights crying, because of what I was putting her through. I inadvertently pushed her away, because I wanted her to be happy, and it felt like she couldn't be with me. I drove her to another man's arms, because I loved her. That my friend, is love.
"Love, love is a verb, love is a doing word." Massive Attack
i can't explain what true love is, but i know it when i see it. i see it everyday when my parents look at each other. after all these years, that sparkle in their eyes is ever present. as they explained to me, you won't have to know what it is, because you won't be able to deny it when it happens.
love is a relationship between 2 people who trust and respect each others, love has no boundries,
It is the realization that no one being is independant of another. It's the butterfly effect (no, I don't mean that funny feeling you get in your stomach when on a date). It's realizing that what you do to others, good or bad, effects everything and everyone, including yourself. Take from others, whether directly or indirectly, you lose 10 fold. Give, however, and what you ultimately receive from life is love. It's not a feeling, it is an understanding of the most fundemental aspect of life. All things are inter-dependant. To do something contrary to love, is to be nothing short of self destructive

love is what you feel inside for someone. Essentially it's a selfish feeling as all feelings are by definition. It's a funny old game. If you feel love for someone, show it all you can and tell them. Doesn't mean they'll love you back though.
Guess I don't really know - sorry.
love is journey and not a thing. It is the blending and peaceful co-existence of individualism and partnership. It is appreciation without control. It is not something that is magically sustained or created. It is a product of openess and faith and truth. Love is love. It is the deepest and most natural state of being and therefore often the most frightening thing we can strive for once it is understood.
Could be that feeling when you first see them, or hear thier voice, and your heart flutters, and your insides tingle, or when the sunrise is so magnificient that it makes you hold your breath ! It could be that tear falling from your eye when something has gone so terrible wrong for someone else, the pain turns your soul upside down. When you hear someone say "I love you", and you feel it so deep in your heart that when you just touch them, you feel like the other half of you has connected.+6

Caring more for the comfort and feelings of another than you do your own.

Apple with cyanide in it.
Love is when you can't get that one person out of your head for days on end. It's when you see them and automatically smile. It's when you can get so mad at them, but always find it in your heart to forgive them. Love is sitting around the house in your pjs on a rainy day watching movies with them (like my day today.) Love is when he sneaks up behind and you kisses your cheek. Love is when he's bugging you to get off the computer and lay down with him (like now for example :D)
I know that song, but can't remember the artist though. :)
Love is more then one feeling put into one big word!
Its when u wake up in the morning and he/she is the first person u think of and want to see or speak to. Its when u r yourself and knowing that he/she loves and appreciates every inch of u! Its when ur comfortable, safe and trust. Its when u look into someone's eyes and just melt in a pure and innocent way. Its when materialistic things do not matter. Wanting to cry and laugh with that one person for ever and no one else!!!
Pain you keep inflicting on yourself in search of something perfect
What is true love?
Perhaps this is a twisted version of love, but this is what I believe it is...
(If everyone followed this definition of love, the divorce rate would probably go DOWN a lot!!!! )
True love is when you love him for who he is. True love is when you don't want to change him. True love is when you care about him as much as or more than you care about yourself. True love is when you are in it for him. True love is when you forgive him for his past and don't try to use his past against him. True love is forgiving. True love is appreciating him for the person he is today. There is no room for "hate" in "love", other than hating a person's sinful actions. True love is being nice because you want to be nice, but not being nice because you want something in return. True love is when you don't expect presents, but rather appreciate them when they are given to you. True love is when you'll still be with him even if he doesn't buy you a diamond ring because he means that much more to you than material wealth. True love is when you don't give him meaningless compliments. True love is when you let him go because he doesn't want to lead you on. True love is when you respect his decisions, even if he doesn't want to be with you. True love is when you don't chase after him because he makes you happy. True love is when you're not with him because of how he makes you feel, but rather you are with him because you do care about him and love him for him. True love is selfless. True love is when you give all you can and don't expect anything in return. True love is being interested in his best interests. True love is when you put his needs before your own. True love doesn't break up with him just because he's "waiting until marriage to lose his virginity" because he means more to you than what you can get from him. True love never forces unless it's a life and death situation and there's no time for an explanation. True love is when you enjoy his company. True love is when you'll still see him as handsome even when he gets old and grey, even if his skin starts to sag and even if he gets a pot belly. True love is loving him no matter how much he weighs and no matter how much he changes or who he changes into. True love is loving him even when he's sick. True love is staying with him even if he gets disfigured horribly and the rest of the world hates him because of it. True love is loving him no matter what the world's standard of beauty is. There is no room for sexual assault in "love". There is no room for "dating games", "manipulation games", and so on in "love" because "love" is "caring about someone other than yourself". If you are in it for yourself ...... it is not "love". It is plain and simply "lust"..
The question shouldn't be "What can he do for me?" Rather, it should be "What can I do for him?"
If you're interested in a girl, just switch the words to "her"... the same thing still applies.
Love is a passionate attraction and desire.... it comes from heart... deeply inside
When you like something alot, you love it.
Any extra words is just embellishment.
Love is about feeling complete with another person, just that one person who gives us that feeling of complete connection. We can love many people in different ways, but 'romantic love' between two people consists of wanting them to be happy and feeling good when they are, feeling sad for them when they're down and wishing always to share with them.
Love is a verb. Not just a noun.

Lol. The quote confused me. I memorized the passage for the New King James Version and I couldn't figure out why my remembered passage was so different from the one above. Then I saw the NASB and everything began to make sense again.
