  • Rare to find them in a 6 pack in Canada, but if you dig, you can. 12 pack, is the same here as there, so not strictly British.
  • They are sold that way in the US too, only sometimes you see styrofoam cartons
  • In Eastern Europe and at least part of Africa they're sold by tens in a little plastic bag. After a while plastic egg carriers appeared. A while longer and they also offered them in pasteboard or clear-plastic sectioned boxes of 10. In some stores you can buy them individually. It's interesting to note that in many countries, even people who also speak English don't know what a "dozen" is and can't translate it into their own languages--they'll say "tens of years" instead of "dozens," or translate "twelves." Must be a British-American thing.
  • You can find cardboard and styrofoam cartons of either 6, 12, or 18 eggs in the US.
  • We have the 6 & 12 packs in cardboard in Australia as well. Also, if you are catering (like a sandwhich shop or restaurant), they come on trays of 36, stacked on each other in a box).
  • 6-23-08: Here in the U.S. they can be bought in 6, 8, 12 and 18 per carton and 30 eggs per unit or "flat". For restaurants and hotels, they are sold in "cases": 30 dozen eggs to a case; 2 1/2 dozen or 30 eggs to a "flat". Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it! • Well I am lucky. A man comes door to door to sell eggs every Sunday and i can buy as many as I need in multiples of 3. In the supermarket they are sold in boxes of 3/6
  • Egg cartons here in the Canary Islands are just the same as the ones in Britain, although there are also trays of 10 and 24.
  • In Spain you can get them in packs of 6-10-12-36 Or you can buy them from a basket in the little neighborhood stores. They will either pack them in the little cardboard egg-cartons, pack them in your own reusable egg-carrier or put them in a bag. These are usually better than the pre-packaged ones, straight from the farmer's henhouse daily.
  • its a american thing too... and pakistani... but u can also get them in little metallic buckets (golf ball style)
  • It's an South African thing too. Here they are sold in packs of 6, 12, 24, 36.
