Its a tough questions, ephedra or Ma huang, is a wonderful herb if used the way it traditionally was....certain cases of asthma and colds and flu. When the weight loss companies figured out how to use it, concentrate it and over dose folks with it that it needed to be banned. Unfortunately chinese medicine practitioneers were duped.....we were told that the laws would be written so that we could continue to use the herb in traditional ways.....and we are......you just can't bring it into the country. So I can use it...just can't get it. Luckly we did fight them on some of the other herbs almosted banned at the same time such as Pinellia. Be well, Bob www.acuherbals.com

no, it's the typical american overuse of everything that screwed its image up. it's been used for centuries with almost no problems then all of a sudden we americans get hold of it, go over board with it and th problems start. it's ridiculous.
