HaHa, that's a good one. We skydive from 12,500 ft. a main canopy and a reserve, in case.
If you pack your own base canopy, and you do it wrong, then, well, how long do you want to think about the sudden stop.

Why do you need to learn to skydive first? Shouldn't it be possible to get whatever skydiving instruction you need when you're learning to base jump?

what about jumping off a brige into the water?? channel is about 12 feet deep there and a pick up boat will be on standby... will also be wearing a self inflating PFD so that it will allow me to hit the water and absorb impact before inflating and bringing me to the surface (same think they wear on the flight deck of aircraft carriers height off water... 90ft and with just the "float coat" they say you have a 50/50 shot or surviving impact depending on how u hit)
