Also, police officers can do an inventory search of your vehicle. this is for the officers safety as well as making an inventory of contents inside your vehicle, if your vehicle is towed. upon your arrest, say you have a thousand dollars inside your vehicle, it would be noted on the inventory search, just in case the money came up missing. its liability and approved by the U S Supreme Court. Also, a search is valid for fruits of a crime. A search, incidential to arrest, is valid by the police and the evidence obtained can be used in court.

Only if he has probable cause to search the vehicle. Not sure if DUI is probable cause for a search...But a police officer can rightfully put a person in handcuffs just for speeding--and will do just about anything that to prove that he can.
