Try the remedies that have been stated below, if this continues for more than a day see a doctor, it could be strep which is very dangerous if it goes untreated not to mention being contagious to others.

Go to the doctor, or urgent care if you can. That's how I felt the last time I had strep throat, it was horrible. Do you have pus on the back of your throat?

Go to Walgreen's or CVS, and get some Cloraseptic spray, or lozenges, they'll help. Chloraseptic Spray is an oral anesthetic and analgesic combination. It works by numbing the painful or irritated areas. http://www.drugs.com/cdi/chloraseptic-spray.html

I have a neck injury and it hurts the back of my head when I swallow, you may have a tightened muscle see your GP and have a MRI it if doesn't get better. If this came on after your mother hit you I don't believe that it is strep throat. When my neck first went out I had ringing in my ears and then my jaw clicked all the time I hurt my neck again twisting in bed and now it hurts to swallow. Best wishes but do see a doctor I put up with the pain for a long time and had to have spinal surgery.

Sounds like strep, you need antibiotics, that is the only way to get rid of it. I've been through it and there is really isn't a lot you can do for the pain, once you start on antibiotics, you'll feel a little better each day. The last time I had it the dr. told me to buy Chloraseptic throat spary for the pain, it did seem to help. Feel Better.

The best thing for you to do, in my opinion, is to see your doctor ASAP and let him determine the nature of the problem. This could be something serious, like an infection, or it may be something easily relieved. Good luck!!
