  • I think the downrate button was meant to take credit away from wrong answers. Unfortunately, people throw a hissy fit whenever it's used and start calling you a troll when that happens, so you have to positively rate everyone else and withhold rating from other people. The opinionated questions really shouldn't be eligible for points, in all honesty.
  • Well, I just got DR'ed for a "personal opinion" question. I didn't use any profanity. I didn't realize personal opinion questions could have a wrong answer. Maybe it's just another computer virus.
  • I think maybe that is what they think..but what they don't really get...is that I, and a number of other people, just don't care if I get DR'd. These points don't exactly buy anything:)
  • Definitely. Many use it just for that reason.
  • I do really think so. I'm incline--to some degree--to believe that some members use the downrating system in that manner. There are questions that I find offensive, and opinions or answers which reflects an ill mindset, but I don't get out of shape over it, nor I do downrate those individuals. What I do is simply to present an opposing argument or view. I always have that option to that without resorting to downrating.
  • Amazing how seriously we take a red number on our computer screen!!! Don't worry, there are plenty of immoral watchdogs fighting the moral ones. You can't win no matter which side you're on. If you're gonna let little things like that bother you then you'd best stop asking anyone anything.
  • I didn't think people would be so self-righteous.
