  • Okay I learned to type with practice, I had two computer classes but still couldn't type so I just practice and I keep getting better.
  • When I was 14 my father enlisted me into typing a book he was writing by hand (this was before everyone had computers, of course). I think it took about 2 weeks of doing this an hour a day before I started to pick up some speed.
  • I have taken eight weeks of typing classes when I first started. I worked on an old IBM Selectric, it was horrible, working out of the text book. After eight weeks I only could type about 25wpm. When I got my first computor I used to log into the yahoo chatrooms and found that the more time I spent communicating in the chatrooms and forums the faster and more accurate my typing became. Now I can type about 65 wpm with minimal error. A chat room is by far the best way to learn and most interesting.
  • Countless. I can type about 20 wpm, and that's using the hunt-and-peck method. I've never been able to use the @%#$ing home row, and I doubt I'll ever learn now. Basically, I've spent a grand total of about a year of my life on a computer by now (and I'm 19)! But the main variable in this equation is YOU. Just depends on how you learn and how fast.
