I had a friend who worked for McDonald's packaging. She said they sprayed the fries with sugar water before the fries were frozen. This is, of course, hearsay. Make of it what you will.
Have you seen "Supersize Me" yet?
A lot of the reason people think Mcdonalds fries (and similar foods) taste good is because of the cocktail of chemicals and hormones in them- a lot of these can actually be addictive if consumed regularly, so the pleasure you feel in consuming them is similar to the pleasure of a cigarette to a smoker. This is also why people who were never fed Mcdonalds as a kid (and thus never built up the dependency) tend to think fast food is disgusting when they finally try it.
That's because every kind food that tastes so damn good is also so damn bad for you
They probably put some kind of addictive drug in them.
I think it is a combo of the fat it is fried in the and the beef flavour they use. They do taste pretty good in small doses, on the rare ocassion that they are cooked well.
Becasue they fry it in animal fat
make donalds fries are good unless u stop eating them for about a year then if eat them again they will give you diaria and they will not taste as good the reason for this is because it takes a long time to get all of the chemicals out of your bodie and when done so your bodie can not handle the chemicals because you are not amooned to it.
It's because of the type of oil they use. Different types of oils have different tastes on the food you fry them in. The worse (health effects) an oil is for you, the better the food tastes.
I forget the type they use, but supposedly they were supposed to switch to a more healty oil awhile back? It all had to do with the trans-fat & what-not.
First of all the potatoes are processed into a type of pasta type mixture, they add beef tallow flavoring plus others. The fries go through a machine which is similar to a meat grinder, or pasta maker, the continuous string of potato mix is cut above a fryer, which immediately sears them into the shape. You can get close with the taste with real potatoes, but it's the beef tallow flavor that makes it. A couple of years ago they used real beef tallow, they were better then, but because it was high in trans fats, they had to look for a flavor substitute. They used a company in New York, that creates flavors for Jelly Belly jelly beans. If you've tried them you can see how they chemically can alter tastes. Have you ever had the eight to ten inch McDonald fry, that's one big potato, but as I said it's a pasty mixture.

You're reading Why are mcdonalds fries so damn good, and you can never make fries tast the same?

Actually, this is correct, but not to effect the taste. The sugar caramelizes when they cook, giving the fries that nice golden color.

The caramelizing makes the fries stay drier(caramel gets very hot)- I like the dry taste instead of mushy french fries.
