Is there some special way of holding an umbrella that stops it from turning inside out everytime there's a gust of wind?

    Yes, tip down the edge closest to the wind direction. It the wind is from behind, tip the brolly down in back. If the wind is in front of you, tip it down in front.

    Hold on to the tip of one of the spines with your other hand, pulling it down slightly. This will prevent it from being caught by the wind and turned inside out.
