What hand would you use. The one you feel is right and you are most confident with surely. Your son should be left to choose without thinking about it. It will be natural and right what ever he uses.

Typically, a left-handed goalie will have the stick in his left hand and glove in the right. He'll then shoot the puck right hand closest to the ice, which is also typical for most left-handers. The only way to know for sure is to find out what he prefers. In the swordsmanship class I teach, all of the left-handers but me there do longsword (a two-handed swords) right-handed, so it's sometimes hard to predict. I do swordsmanship left-handed for the most part, but play bass guitar right-handed. And I was a left-handed goalie for floor hockey, since I never learned to skate well. :)

This is an easy question to answer! Whatever hand he is used to catching a baseball with would not be the hand to hold the stick with! DUH! I use my left hand to catch with , so i would hold the goalie stick with my right hand.
