Because they like the smell. Simple as. Its similar to asking why do some people eat cheese. Because they like it. Different tastes. (and just because a woman makes an effort with her appearance doesn't make her an airhead- perhaps you're a little guilty of judging a book by its cover? Remember women usually dress for themselves, not for men, we don't really care if you think we smell foul as long as we think we smell good!) EDIT: bignose, please think before you comment. I didn't take your question personally at all, I merely gave you an answer which is true. I didn't say you were wrong for disliking it.

The people you speak of have really bad BO and can't afford deodorant.

Because they have insensitive noses and are not allergic to foul chemical odors that are so strong you can taste them, don't need to smell them!!!
