  • My boss had to explain to his boss why I was the only person who seemed to ever know anything about the projects he claimed "the team" had been working on. He did this to make himself look like he was a good manager and was keeping everyone occupied and productive. After a couple years of this, his boss finally started to notice that I was the only person responding to emails inquiring about projects; the only person who had current and accurate information; and was often found working till 1am to deliver projects. He finally asked a dozen or so other team members if they were working on any of the projects I was working on. A few days after this, I was terminated after my boss was confronted and asked to explain what was going on by his boss, basically in order to cover things up and to keep his job. He then tried to sue me through the company attorneys for having drafts of documentation I had written on my home computer, claiming they were "proprietary" company documents that I had stolen. It took six months, a lot of stress, and a ton of money in attorney's fees before the judge was finally able to hear that I had been the author of the documention. In the end, it got thrown out of court as a frivolous lawsuit.
  • I had been in the company since day one. Good rap with customers, vendors, all involved. A change in management came along, and the new owner is a micromanagement freak. It all came down to you or me...and she's the owner! So I was "let go". It's been six months now, and already 5 people have been hired and fired in my place. What I was doing alone is now handled by three different employees. But her excuse to get rid of me? I wasn't meeting my goals! What a $%&*!!! You know the saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"? Well she fixed it allright. Customers have gone to our competitors, bills aren't being paid, items aren't being delivered on time...the works! Not meeting my goals?!?!?!? I was doing the work of three, had all emplyees happy and goals and paychecks always on time. Bottom line: she did not like the fact that everyone came to me instead of to her.
  • I left work early on a Thursday, called in sick to let them know I wouldnt be in on Friday and the manager in charge said to me "so I guess you wont be in tomorrow (Saturday) either?" I said that I wouldn't so go ahead and cover my shift. The next day at 12:05 I was on my way to the doctor and I get a call from the same manager telling me if I don't get to work I am fired. I told him we already discussed this the previous day and he said, "no you are fired." I have a doctors excuse, I was in bed for a week. He told the general manager that I was a "no call, no show." What can I do?
  • I was hit by a car riding my bike to work and was told by my doctor/therapist not to go back to work for a while (an undetermined amount of time). I called work and told them what happened, and that I would call them with an update on when I could be back. The next time I called (a few days later), I was told that I no longer worked there, I had been fired for a "no call, no show".
  • I worked with my boss and my now ex boyfriends mother. she had been there for a few years before me and was pretty good friends with the boss. when i broke up with her son I think she was pissed and was slandering me behind my back to my boss. I called in sick one day ( I worked with food) so it seemed the right thing to do. and she called me back and said .. well you are unreliable and we dont need you anymore. wich is rediculous because I had been there for a catering job for her last minute when the the girl who was supposed to be there, died in a car accident and didnt show up to work that day. i think my ex's mom got to her.
