When you reach an impasse in a divorce case, how many times do you go to court before the judge decides for you?

    That will vary by state, but you will have to go to court ordered mediation as well, and that is where most of the decisions are made, with the help of a facilitor. Then you go before the judge with your already, for the most part, agreed upon settlement.
