Parents need to inure their children to change as it's the only true constant in the world.

Not too, bad for an awkward word.

Yes, but it is clumsy. I am able to use the past tense, inured better. Here goes:

The food at the orphanage was barely palatable, but the children became inured to it.

If you thought someone was ugly, but you saw them every day, you'd get used to it, then you could say they had an inure face.

Inure can be found in the Webster dictionary, but not in the Oxford one....
