One time there, our waiter was actually from Australia on a work exchange to New York. Other than that, I do not think so from what he told us about the concept of Outback. Their apples, caramel, cinnamon & vanilla ice cream dessert is one of my favorite things in the world, it rocks.

Some of the things they have hanging on the walls.

From what my Australian friend told me, after I sent the menue to her to see how authentic it really way,she told me some of the "drawings" that they use as decoration on it were authentic!! LOL
-
Not much. Like Chinese restraunts they Americanize the food!
-
They're probably as authentic as Taco Bell is Mexican.
-
The decorations.

Is there anything intrinsically Australian about being a crappy chain with tough steaks overdosed with tenderizer?
-
Uh ... their ads always have men with Australian accents. : )

I like the outback--they have lots of stuff from Australia. The Boommerangs; a good variety of Autstralian bee; Australian Wine; and they worked australian themes and names into the food--try the kookabura wings or the Queensland Island and Shrimp. They call the grill in the back of the house a "barbie," Ok, that's all I've got
