We have a generally more violent mindset, based on many years of conditioning and some distorted ideas about manhood, nationalism, group identity, and assertiveness. Thus all the guns, the extreme violence in films, video games, etc.

Basically, its a cultural difference that's pretty deeply rooted.

England (and Canada) have very strict gun control. Many states encourage gun ownership. And of course there is the extremely right wing NRA!!

Blame the pro-gun voters holding every president's decision for extortion.

Think about the ratio of people between the countries. Now say that America has a 25 percent higher overall aggression rating than the UK. That speaks for itself.

England had the foresight to spend several centuries hanging their criminals or deporting them to Botany Bay in Australia. In an almost Darwinian fashion, that and the educational benefit of seeing the wicked on the end of a rope, strongly discouraged the criminal population, so much so that it wasn't until the 1960's that British police had to start carrying guns.

In Australia, the deported criminals kept each other in check and evolved a great society.

Are there actually more school shootings in the U.S. than there are in the U.K.? I'd like to see some facts on that. If there are, it's to do with unraised American youth and other cultural problems, not guns. Gun control doesn't actually control/eliminate guns or stop violence. Criminals don't care about laws banning guns. That's why they're criminals.

Furthermore, the notion that gun control makes it harder for criminals to obtain guns is absurd. A determined criminal will obtain his weapon of choice and carry out his crime, regardless of all other factors, save one: the prospect of the intended victim being armed.

Because America is the home of the psychotic, the land of the dysfunctional. I trust that the English still have some common sense and normalcy left in their society. So much for the USA being the best country in the world, eh?

Because guns are readily accessable in America but don't tell the NRA about that, all they care about is their stupid right to bear arms
