  • It's called public intoxication (A.K.A drunk in public), and yes I agree with it...Not only that, but it's the law, and if you don't like it drink at home.
  • a cop doesn't do anything right! he fights wrongs with wrongs
  • Well, it does seem unfair until you begin to think what might happen. Let's say you tripped over your shoelaces while drunk. If a car hits you, it will undoubtedly damage the car, but can you imagine the damage it would do to the driver? Gawd - I would never get over running over someone!
  • Yes it is right because its the law. BUT it would be pretty cool if they just helped you home if that was the case. I think they used to do things like that before but not so much anymore :(
  • Alcohol consumption will catch you every time. Part A, not driving your automobile is good. Part B, walking, instead of driving drunk, is good, The beauty part of it all............. Its cheaper to post bail for being a walking drunk, rather than a d.u.i., lawyer and tow charge. Next time, you might pay attention to that black cat that passed in front of yor car, enroute to the bar.
  • Cops don't arrest people for simply walking drunk in public. If you were arrested for being drunk in public, you were doing something that called attention to yourself. But think of it this way. If you were so intoxicated that you could not simply walk home without attracting attention, just imagine the harm you could have done while driving.
  • Well your friend did the right thing, and even though he got arrested and the situation should arise once again he should do the same thing. drunk in public is far less serious than dui. Or he could take a taxi.
  • If you are just walking and doing nothing wrong, I see no reason why they would even stop to see if you were drunk.
  • Damned if you do, damned if you don't. They tell you not to drink and drive because you can get arrested for it. Then they can arrest you for being responsible and walking home BUT being drunk in public. They make alcohol legal and then impose all these legalities making it a pain too drink! Its a crock!
  • From what I've read elsewhere just walking home drunk won't get a cop's attention. They appreciate that you're not driving. Of course if you're VERY drunk they will have to pick you up for your own safety. They'll also arrest you if you're being disorderly. I HOPE this didn't happen to you unreasonably. Still you're in a LOT less trouble for that than for DUI.
