I live outside any town limits by 2 miles. Nearest town is Myrtle Creek with a claimed population of 3450. They are including everything within an 8 to 10 mile radius. Just two gas stations, a Dairy Queen, one hig priced grocery and little else except the ticket writing Nazi police. They just bought new squad cars and weren't writing enough tickets in town. So they go a good 10 miles outside their jurisdiction. Next bigger town is Roseburg. Blown up by dynamite and propane in 1959, it has a population of 20,000. Next actually major city is Eugene, about 80 miles nort of Roseburg. Oh, it's Oregon USA.

Home town - Aledo. Illinois 3,179 people. I used to live in a little town of Millersburg, Illinois = 50 houses, 50 kids, and 50 dogs. Now I live in Silvis, Illinois 7,800. It's a suburb of a larger metroplolitan area around 200,000. but it feels like a small town.

About 50 miles south of Washington, D.C. According to the Census Bureau, the estimated population in 2007 was about 124,117. When I was born in the 80's the population was a little over 40,000.
