Great question. Wikipedia is self-correcting, in that users can edit mistakes as soon as they are detected. This seems like a scary proposition, but the ratio of people who would look after the wiki to those who would do it harm is in favour of the good people. Is it a perfect system? Nope. But I'd rather risk its current system than be forced to adopt one person's version of something. Not everything you read on the web (period) is true. So it goes for wikipedia. A more accurate online encyclopedia is citizendium.com, it has a staff that checks everything for accuracy.

It's changed back by some of the more active members, some of them are administrators who have opportunities to make it easier to fight Wikipedia vandalism. But it takes time, time that could be used to create new articles and make the other articles better. Wikipedia vandals just destroy for other people. I think all Wikipedia vandals shall go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncyclopedia instead and "play" for a while.
