    The smallest measure of size is a bit.
    In ascending order we have bit, byte, kilobyte, megabyte, gigabyte, terabyte, petabyte, and exabyte. There are higher measurements, but as of yet they aren't really applicable for normal usage.

    Bit= a digit either 1 or 0
    Byte= 5,6,7,8,9 or 16 Bits
    Kilobyte = 1024 Bytes
    Megabyte = 1024 Kilobytes
    Gigabyte = 1024 Megabytes
    Terabyte = 1024 Gigabytes
    Petabyte = 1024 Terabytes
    Exabyte = 1024 Petabytes
    Zettabyte = 1024 Exabytes
    Yottabyte = 1024 Zettabytes
    Windows however recognizes these *bytes as 1000 *bytes instead of 1024 (e.g. GB = 1000 MB [When it should really be 1024 MB])

    Megabyte = 1024 kilobytes
    Gigabyte = 1024 megabytes
    Terabyte = 1024 Gigabytes
    ...and so on and so on.
