At my school, alot of the teachers leave partly because of the money.

Where I work, we are paid by the school board (school district)....the salary is the same wherever you work in the province as long as it's a public school (private ones can do what they want) We star at 33000 and it take about 15 years to get top salary 68000$. ...but think about this little math 40000$/200 days=200$ a day (average) 200$ a day / 30 brats= 6.66$ per day per child 6.66$ a day per child/ 5hrs= 1.33$ an hour per child..... and you still have to deduct taxes! we don't neccessarily make a lot of money....we try to make responsible adult, good people, the fututre, a difference.....

For a teacher the starting salary is around poverty line. Its extremly low. Obviously it depends on the degree you have and where you teach but teachers make an avg. of 35000 per year..yea horrible for us who wanna become teachers...but we will do it for the love!
-
depends on how rich the parents are... and how honest the teacher is
-
in our country, teachers are underpaid
-
No, high school and JHS teachers are not paid a significant salary. I have colleagues who have left for financial reasons though their love was in the classroom. It is distracting from the teaching - which includes the hours of preparations, marking of homework and exams, calling parents etc. - when dealing with the financial stresses.

It seems like the old crabby teachers who don't care anymore make the most money. The newer more enthusiastic teachers we need are very underpaid.
