I don't know but it pisses me off. Brandy drives drunk and kills someone. She gets no punishment whatsoever. I don't understand it at all.

its about media coverage. the judge becomes a hollywood star overnight. he gets newspaper coverage. interviews. he cant lose face and use a heavy hand in judgement. instead he sends his minions to jail. it seems to be the best punishment. let the jailee suffer the consequences of the media coverage.

Connections and money. They are supported by powerful people who are friends with other powerful people. Calling in favors, asking for leniency, etc. It's all about who you know in the celebrity world.
