  • No. Traction control systems work in concert with ABS wheel speed sensors and operate each brake, individually, many (5-30) times per second to make all four wheels move at the same speed. Pressing on the brake pedal activates all four brakes, and is not modulated nearly as precisely nor as quickly as the ABS /TCS computer would.
  • Technically speaking no. if you were at high speeds and one of the drive wheels broke loose and you tryed to stop it buy pressing the brake you would most likely send the car into spin out. However I have found that when at a compleate stop in the snow if one of the drive wheels spin when I try to start moving sometimes slightly applying the E-brake will cause the non-spinning tire to grab and move the car. It is no where near as effective as traction controll, limited slip or positraction but sometimes it works.
