Help answer this question below.
Consider this:
Nicotene is one of the most addictive substances known to man, it rivals even herion in it's addictive properties.
Everybody is different, but also remember that there are two components of addiction: physical and psychological. Although it is highly unlikely that one would become addicted after a few cigarettes it is entirely possible.
I smoked for many years and stopped for 6 years..I had one and was hooked all over again..took me another year to get off them again...just 1 can do it.
Different depending the person, I smoke for about 6 yr before I was ever really addicted. Now I hate to even try and quit
It only took my wife a pack over 3 days to become addicted.
Well, personally, I have three days a week to smoke. But each of those days, I have about...three. Then I can go about a week and a half without one then I feel really strange...almost...anxious? My hands start shaking and I feel like I'm going to puke. That's when I can tell I need a cigarette. So I guess it really does depend on the person.
It's not so much a question of "how many," but of "how long." It can take longer depending on who you are. For me, it took maybe a week, but my brother says that it took him months to get to the point where he felt like he really needed them.
It's all in the mind, there are not really a realistic criteria or formula to work this out, it is totally up to you!
You can't put a definite figure on it. you could chain-smoke 20 packets and not be addicted, or have one a day for three weeks and be unable to stop. It's non-quantifiable, as everyone had different addiction thresholds. Nice question, though.
The same number of drinks it takes you to become an alcoholic.
There is no answer for either question.
It depends. Everyone would have a different figure. Just like some people get drunk after one drink, others can go a while without feeling a thing. The same is with smoking. Everyone's body reacts differently. But i would advise not to smoke at all!
There is no number.
It could be a single puff from a single cigarette, it could be a thousand boxes...
I think almost everyone that smokes becomes addicted on some level, because at first although they may not be 'addicted', they may consciously enjoy smoking, so they keep doing it, then eventually their body actually becomes addicted to it and they have a LOT of trouble stopping again.
If you're worried about becoming addicted, DON'T SMOKE, it could happen at any time depending on your body...
Nicotine is not an enjoyable drug unles you have a certain level in your body. At least 5-6 per day allows for it to be worth doing. Is this addiction? I personally quit for a year without much difficulty and started again because I liked it. Since it is socially awkward to smoke enough to get a good effect I have stopped for the last 2 years. For me at least it is a nice part of life like lobster tails or fancy coffee with baileys and whipped cream in the winter or pina coladas on hot days. If you are 290 pounds and are not able to controll your eating or drinking you are likely not going to controll smoking either so don't try it. If you are an addictive person, chances are that you will die of type 2 diabetes or heart disease by 65 regardless of your smoking pleasures.
