Are the New England Patriots really cheaters or did they just get caught doing what all teams already do?

Isn't it possible that both statements are true? Just because "everybody's doing it" doesn't mean it's ok. I don't accept that as a valid defense of cheating.

Every team does it. We just got caught this time.

All teams are doing it, Jimmy Johnson admitted to it when he was coaching. In all honesty though, it makes very little difference in the outcome of games. I am a football coach and know all about the games within the game. The bottom line is though that it is still decided on the field. To answer the question, they did cheat and so do a lot of other teams at all levels. But it doesn't have a real impact on the game.

It doesn't matter whether or not other teams do it. Breaking the rules still makes them cheaters.
