Is an extended car warranty on a 2007 Honda Odyssey worth the added cost? We had a varity of problems with our year 2000 Odyssey at we thought maybe it would be worth the added cost.

Problem is, what kind of a Factory warranty do you get? The extended warranty is only for the extention. They try to make you believe that it is for the whole 5 years, or whatever, but it is actually only for maybe 2 years extra. If you plan on keeping the car for more than 5 years,or whatever the warranty covers, then you may look at that too. Most of the extended warranties do not cover any labor costs. So the cost effective "parts" would not be an advantage. An engine may cost $1200. but the labor is still upwards of $2000. so ... is it worth it? The salesman gets an extra commission for selling this to you.. so he will push hard for your money.. I have never purchased the extended warranties since I used it one time and the labor costs were higher at the dealer than if I would have taken it to a regular shop including parts and labor..... plus I paid all that extra money to buy the policy! Let your factory warranty be the deciding factor.
