  • They don't. That's Hollywood, and what they are using is allegedly something along the lines of Vics Vaporub.
  • When all else fails, the police strike a match. after extinguishing the flame, the sulphur smell deadens the smell of a dead body, in the human nose.
  • At any post mortem I've seen, neither I nor anyone else uses any cream, because to me at least, the body doesn't smell that bad. As mentioned before, it just heightens the atmospheric tension in moveis by making you think that to be in the presence of a dead body is a terrifying experience, made all the worse by the smell. Didn't they use vaseline or smoething in Slience of the Lambs? Anyway, load of rubbish.
  • Gloves, gowns and aprons are worn but cream under the nose? I don't think so.
  • Vick vaporub , that's what they used in UK
  • A menthol/camphor cream, such as Vick's Vapor Rub, is an old remedy used to dispel the sickening effect of inhaling the bad odor of a decaying body. It really doesn't work all that well, so few that handle bodies use it anymore. Nowadays, respirators are available to wear in difficult cases.
  • Vics Vapor rub. It masks everything.
