Why does a drug store put pet food on sale when they only have maybe one or two bags on the shelf? Are they trying to be funny?

It may be that they only have a few remaining items of that particular line left, or that the stock they have left is nearing its use-by-date and they need to sell it quickly.

    P.S Hi :)

Maybe they want to get rid of the last of their stock?

No they are not. If they don't sell it then they have to take a loss. In fact, often a drug store will sell snacks or small amounts of groceries to capture some extra cash from impulse buying. Same concept applies to a gas station that sells candy, gum, cigs, and soda. You stop for gas and hey..whaddaya' know you are thirsty and whaddaya' know there is some soda here...see?
