  • Well if I remember this correctly from my school days, each branch "checks" the others. The legislative - house and senate pass bills, both must pass then it goes to the President (executive). He can veto the bill if he wishes, but usually doesn't (George W Bush has not vetoed a bill that reached his desk). But the President cannot change laws without it coming through the legislative branch. Then even after the laws are passed, the Supreme Court (judicial) interprets the laws and applies their ruling.
