My 6 week old kitten uses his litter box but sits in his fecss and drags his bottom across the carpet when he is done. What is this about, and what can I do?

    Most kittens do this a few times. As he gets older he'll realize he's doing it. Its hard to poop standing up in a little box. Understand how young and NOT coordinated he is. Give him some time. put the litter box in a convenient place, thats big and roomy, make sure your cleaning it constantly so that he has more room to go. usually they'll grow out of it. By a month or two. Kittens are very smart. They know where they're supposed to go and what they're supposed to do after. You'll see! Just have patience!

    I can tell you that this is normal. mine used to do that to me ALL the time! the first time it was funny (on floors) but when he started doing it on carpets, it was just sick. I moved out of state so I gave him to my sister, so I'm not sure if he just grew out of it, but he stopped doing it once he got older.. have you asked your Vet yet?
