  • He can change the speed- but then you can point to the judge that change, saying that the cop was not sure of himself- make it sound like he did not know anything. I did that to a parking ticket in San Deigo.The judge dismissed the ticket.
  • An officer can change the speed of a ticket but cannot make it higher than your actual speed. You may have been traveling at a speed that warranted a court appearance or larger fine and he may have been willing to drop that speed as a courtesy, which he is allowed to do. Argument or attitude, though, is enough to get the officer to raise it back to your actual speed. That's probably along the lines of what he'll say in court.

  • Yes, if he later realized his mistake, by looking at his radar unit. he can explain this in traffic court. this has happened to me before. the sun hit the radar screen. in the suns glare i thought his speed was 81 mph, but actually it was 91 mph. explained in court and accepted. All cops are not perfect.
