I am from Maryland. I always thought it was the north part of the state but I am being told Maryland is considered the south. Which is true?

    Technically, it is south of the Mason-Dixon line, so in relation to when the North & South were divided, it was south.

    That said, it is really considered "Mid-Atlantic".

    It's cusine is a wonderful blend of southern and nothern. Politically, it has been a hodge-podge, but has more in common with the north. Weather wise, the winters are northern and the summers are southern.

    Having lived in Maryland and now in North Carolina, I don't think you should worry that Maryland is in any way "southern".

    North part of the state? It depends where in Maryland you live...

    But, I assume you meant the north part of the country. Anything north of Virginia I deem to be "The North," so you're a northerner.
