  • There are about 25 different keys for the spare tire "lock",l which are all avail for sale at your local Ford dealer, and sometimes on EBay. There is a number identifying the lock stamped on the face of the lock cylinder. The key is a 5" long black plastic handle with the metal key at the end. It is usually stored in the little pouch that also contains the owners manual. When you insert the key in the lock cylinder and twist, it enables you to remove the entire cylinder, revealing the hole for the crank which turns the winch to lower the spare tire. The crank handle is usually stored with the jack tools, in a compartment behind the seat.
