I am in need of job search tips. I review job search sites and the local paper and have found dead ends. Can you provide me "outside of the box" ways of approaching job searches and getting in the door of small companies? (Asking for a friend)

I checked out the book What Color Is Your Parachute which is suppose to tell me how to get a job. I just haven't be motivated to read it. Thanks for the help.

I like www.indeed.com, www.craigslist.com, and the local paper. I find that Monster, Monstertrak, and Careerbuilder can be very tedious and frustrating, but it is necessary to set up a daily alert anyway. You have to be diligent about the job search, especially now. If your friend has a more specialized field, it never hurts to contact the company directly - that is how I got my job!
