  • Call your doctor or go to the emergency room. This is a high fever.
  • This is not something to play with. I second Wide Awake: take her to the ER.
  • Children can tolerate higher body temp than adults, have a medical practicioner look at her.
  • I went through the same thing, with the fever (however unbelievable) going up to 104.9 take your child to the ER to be sure there is nothing being missed. My situation was similar to your's in that there were no other symptoms. I was told that while it's not 'normal,' it's not 'uncommon' and that it was "probably" just a virus - let it ride out. It eventually broke but of course I was in knots the whole time. Good luck - popsicles, ice cream, slushees, all the good stuff should make him/her a little more comfy
  • That is not that high of a fever I work in the ER. T Give her tylenol and motrin, they are safe to give at the same time. That is not an ER visit, unless the fever goes up fast. You don't even need to give tylenol/motrin unless it is over 101. Keep giving her fluids, don't let her bundle up in blankets, that raises the body temp. Give her the meds around the clock and check her temp.
  • I found this on a similar site months ago and it really does work. Take a pair of socks and wet with cold water, wring it out (leave it very damp but not dripping) and put on your child's feet. Take a second pair (dry socks) and put it over the wet ones. Give your child tylenol following prescription on medicine (for pain and aches). Give your child lots of fluids (pedialyte, juice, water, gingerale (flat is ok)throughout the day and night and lots of rest. Do not bundle your child with blankets. A simple white t-shirt and diaper or underwear is fine. Check and re-wet the socks when you give the next dosage. Socks will dry as fever is drawn down into the wet socks. If your child also has a running nose, use saline drops sold in most pharmacies and grocery stores. Dab a little vaseline under the nose, around the nostrils to prevent rawness from continuous wiping. Within 24 hours you should see improvement. I realize this is late but i'm one of those moms that refer back to these sites from time to time.
  • ( My opinion and practices I use with my children) I do not run to the er or dr for every bump and cough It will only expose my child tom ore bad bugs, Fever is way for the body to kill off whats invading, Give her tons of fluids, lots and lots of water. With no other symptoms I would watch her through the night and monitor her temp, I do not advise motrin or tylenol, you are preventing the body form doing its job. If her temp increases alot and she displays any abnormal behavior ( not eating drinking dizzy wont wake easily...) then go to the doctor right away.
