Most cultures have one basic ideal of beauty. It's not just America and it's been this way long before television. Brazil seems to be the worst countries as far as this issue is concerned. Even the lower class woman will throw away about 50% of her income for beauty supplies and treatments.
As an added note, we're in the minority when it comes to viewing women’s breasts as sexual body parts. Most cultures view them as being no more sexually explicit than male breasts.
