I have done all 3 and all have their advantages. Cant take the train to Hawaii!!. All things being equal, I would drive. More freedom to stop where you like along the way, possibly take the scenic route. You are on your own schedule, not at the mercy of baggage handlers. if my luggage is going to get lost, dang it! I'll lose it myself, thank you!!! The fresh air, top down, blasting the radio, oh yeah, I'm taking the car

Flying a train. That is some fun stuff right there.

It depends on how far I'm travelling, if it's two hours or less driving, after two hours, plain or train.

Planes, trains or automobiles? I prefer the bus, then we can all sit around and sing "Flintstones, meet the Flintstones"

i would fly and rent a car when i got there. i havent done much train travel. car driving is good, it just takes so long to get anywhere. short trips i would drive. across the usa i would fly and rent a car. for fun a trip across canada on a train would be fun. or little train trips along the coast of oregon and then into the mountains. i have taken a train from santa barbara to klammath falls, oregon. the trains are not dependable. we had to pull off for fast freight to go thru. and the air conditioning failed. sometimes trains dont work so buses have to be sent to take passengers to the next stop. flying is good if you leave time to change planes in case it arrives late, or leaves early. nothing is failsafe anymore.
