How does one buy stock on the NYSE without a broker?

Well, I guess you could purchase your own seat on the New York Stock Exchange, but the cost would be prohibitive. I guess the question should be how to overcome your fear of brokers. Comissions are so cheap now, that I can't imagine why circumventing a broker would be a goal.

Well, you can. But it's hard. You have to consult and consult and consult with the guys to do that. I don't see how you can go up to the NYSE and yell, "Gimme a stock without a broker!"
