I like birch! Pale, plain, lovely
Bamboo. Its attractive and renewable "green" product.
Bamboo flooring is becoming more and more popular as the country is moving towards the "green" trend. It's great for any decor, but, especially if you're looking for a more contemporary look, or the asian style, which is becoming INSANELY popular. you can purchase the prefinished bamboo flooring which is solid wood, tongue and groove, with a glue and nail application process.
oay boards the wider the better, old or new property ,tudor or contemporary oak is a great canvasto begin room design. If contemporary and boards are unfinished iwould suggest you after sanding you apply awaterbased polyurethane sealer. This will not darken timber to much making the room light & giving the feeling of space.
If the prperty is older iwould go for a Hard Wax Oil product this will bring all the colours out of the timber & enhance the grain making the room feel much warmer.
Good luck Floorboy
I Love chestnut and hickory, handplaned or old vintage pine floors with wide planks.
I like handscraped hardwoods like Brazilian Walnut,Goncalo Alves, Oak, and Mahogany.
oh i think cherry wood would look nice like a deep red color but i am not sure since i have never had wood flooring only carpet
We have solid chestnut and it is beautiful. With a clear varnish or wax it has a warm slightly orangey colour. Oak tends to look very dark and doesn't have the same warmth to it at all.
