Question

Help answer this question below.

I recently bought a new car and took my old cd player from my old car and put it in the new car. Well, the cd player lights up and turns on, but no sound comes out. What could the problem be?

Not trying to be funny here - did you plug your speakers in and make sure the volume's up? That sounds like something I'd forget. Did you put a CD in the tray and press, "Play"?

To whoever rated this as "Useless" - or whatever the lowest rating is - now, let me get this straight:

According to you, NOT plugging the speakers in and/or cranking the volume knob counterclockwise, all the way, would NOT cause a problem described as "no sound comes out". Is that correct?

Just so I understand completely, the speaker wires from whatever speakers you plan on connecting to the old CD player are not plugged into the old CD player, and this would NOT affect the audio output.

I see. Sound, without some type of speaker. Interesting. You have a bright future as an inventor, Thomas Edison.

OK. On the old CD player's control panel - the volume slider, or knob, or whatever, has been torqued down counterclockwise, as far as possible. This, too, must be immaterial, as related to "no sound comes out." Is that correct?

So, you're saying, or would say, had you had not "hit and run" rated, that volume and speakers are unnecessary to hear what a CD player is playing.

I concede your well-argued points, Mr Ed. I guess there's no sense in asking if an audio CD actually needs to be in the CD player and the "Play" button pushed, cause you're bound to say, "No." LOL. Oh, and good luck with that light bulb thing!! You could start with the one over your head - it's looking a little dim right now <grin>.

You all think too hard about little things. My guess is that you have half a brain and it is in working condition, so the problem probably isn't about the volume or putting in a CD. I would suggest checking your wire connections in the cack. The sound problem would either be from the 4 sets of speaker wires, of the blue antenna wire. If you can't find any problems with this then there is probably something wrong with your sterio.
