  • A dead rat in the corner of the room. (we left right after we saw that).
  • Probably the 4 foot gaping hole in the wall above my bed.
  • That would have to be that Motel 6 in Upper Michigan that decided not to change the sheets on the bed along with an air conditioner that didn't work.
  • I checked into the Gulf Beach Motel in Fort Walton, Florida. I put my suitcase down on the bed and the largest cockroach I have ever seen crawled right over it. I picked it up and left. Lost all the money I paid for the room and had to find a room for the rest of the week. But I was not staying there.
  • It was a brothel. Honest to God. I was in the Bahrain with my military band, our hosts had booked the hotel sight-unseen, and it turned out to be a brothel. It was actually a beautiful place, but they made all the women (there were 5 of us) stay in rooms downstairs, usually occupied by staff. In this country, the worst place I stayed had a stinky, wet carpet.
  • In a hotel in London, the hotel room we were given reeked of mildew. We complained but the hotel was totally full and nothing else nearby had any openings. They moved us to another room after THREE nights. The other rooms in the hotel were fine. This one must have had a window left open to rain in the past, but they REALLY should have ripped out everything rip-out-able in the room and cleaned everything before renting it.
  • Crackwhores
  • Chalk outline on the floor next to the bed;)
  • The hotel nextdoor was on fire. I said; " boy it looks foggy out today", we opened the windows and fire was coming out of the window 2 spaces away..AHHHHH, this was in NYC.. I guess nothing like that gets them excited..No evacuation either. 1981.
  • Ewww, sheets with big and prominent stains and a bathroom floor filled with molds. It was a cheap hotel anyway, but I've been to other cheap hotels and they're not dirty like that one.
  • Didn't stay... A friend had booked a relatively cheap hotel in NY for my brother and I to stay at while he finished his last week before we would drive him back home. When we got there and went to the room, the door wouldn't open, because the bed was too large (think IT was a queen) for the room. I don't remember there being a closet, and there was JUST enough room to shuffle sideways around the bed. The bed looked like the covers had just been pulled up after the previous renter had left. The bathroom was a shared BR in the hall (YUCK!) And we heard yelling and "fussing" through the (VERY) thin walls.
  • A supposedly upscale hotel in Anderson, Indiana. The showerhead was partly clogged, the tiles were cracked, and when I was showering the water backed up almost to my knees. A Motel 6 near Berkely, CA. It looked as if the room had flooded recently: there was a moldy line about 15 inches above the floor, all the way around the room. A mom & pop motel in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The place reeked, but I couldn't tell where the smell was coming from. I was exhausted after driving all the way from Reno in one night, so I just covered my head with the blankets and crashed. And the shower stall was even more disgusting than the hotel in Anderson was. I got out of there early the next morning.
  • Pulled down the sheets and there lay a used condom at a fairly nice looking motel in St. Louis.
  • Paper thin walls(could here the guy taking a crap) and later on when he was getting intimate with his wife.
  • There were rabbits near the swimming pool, the carpets were SO sticky we could hear our feet lifting off of it, the toilet had poop in it, and the shower tiles were falling off.
  • Woke up to crawling bugs all over the bed...I could not sleep got up and left in the middle of the night !!!
  • The elevator would always get stuck when we went in it!
