Help answer this question below.

I have 1 '98 Diamante. The 3.6. The AC blows slightly cool at rest and colder when driving, but no where as cold as it has in the past. I went to charge it, but the low pressure side reads 125 psi. Is my compressor gone or might there be another solu

The low side reading seems too high. The maximum low side reading depending on the ambient (outside temperature) should be 80 psi to 110 psi with the AC off. Make sure the cooling fan is working while the AC is on, if it is not the pressure readings will be too high and the heat will not be removed from the refrigerant flowing through the condenser properly. The low side reading should be around 30 psi and high side around 200-250 psi with the AC on maximum (recirculate) and blower on high. If you truly have 125 psi on the low side with the AC on the compressor is not pumping sufficiently and the system is most likely over-charged. When driving the compressor pumps faster and there is more air flow across the condenser which could make the pressure readings closer to what they should be resulting in the AC cooling a little better. In conclusion, if the system has the correct amount of refrigerant and the low side reading is too high and the high side is too low the compressor is most likely failing. The correct fix is to flush the system, install a replacement compressor, expansion valve, drier, evacuate and recharge the system.
