  • Team leader in building a multi program computer tracking system. All progrms had different eligibility, client base and purposes. I had to act as the moderator between the programmer and 6 program experts to build a multi program base screen including basic information used by the 6 programs. Subsequent screens (for each program) were accessed by clicking on an approprate icon. The hardest job was getting agreement of common language.
  • Hostage situation, involving a man and his two children and a weapon. SWAT team called in and worked very closely with uniformed officer. Communication skills at its finest. Hostatge negotiator called in and suspect surrendered.
  • A Mission Critical database went down that stopped an entire production line in China. People from The OS platform, Network, Database, and Business Unit teams needed to come together in one centrral area to exchange information and resolve the issue ASAP. $400k USD per hour was being lost. People involved in fixing were from many different countries and spoke many different languages. The escalation manager was responsible for ensuring reliable, accurate, and efficient communication among all involved. He and all involved required excellent communication skills. I was involved in this specific situation last Sunday...and am subject to being brought one of these escalations at any time I'm on-shift.
