equal oppotunities usually refers to every person having the same rights as any other person for example in applying for a job (the most common way the term comes up). This is whatever their sex, age, race, religion, sexual orientation, any disbility etc. Denying anyone these rights under equal oppotunities may result in unfair discrimination.

"equal oppotunities" mean that you have to pay to the person that is calling you a racist or sexist or whatever. Example: your earning $1000 is EQUAL to you paying $1000 to the person calling you a racist who is too lazy to work for the money him/herself. $1000=$1000

It had a good origin, but now it's just reverse discrimination against "white" people. Same job offer same skills among varied race applicants, the white guy would not get the job particularly if the hiring company already had an uneven number of whites. In that case even if the white applicant was better qualified, he/she would still not get the position over others of another race.

I think that equal opportunities means that you make changes to suit the need of the person so that they then get to have equal opportunities.I.e,If someone who was deaf wanted to have a job and they were capable in every other way but might just need to make a slight adaption, you would need to find out what their needs are and what adaptions might need to be made.

Equal opportunity means exactly what it says: nothing factors into such things as being hired for the job OTHER than qualifications of the applicants. This can be applied to such as housing, education, and, well, everything. That is a nice fantasy but a fantasy is all it is. No matter what you do, it is never going to come to pass. All sorts of things have been tried, mainly affirmative action, but none have worked. Here is my opinion on affirmative action which explains why I think it is not working: http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/7380952 Unless you could rewire the human brain to eliminate humanities' proclivity to judge based on externals like race, equal opportunity shall remain a fantasy.

A few examples: One is born black, the other is born white. They both go for the same job. The boss is discriminating and doesn't want a black person to get the job. So no matter if both have the same qualities, they don't have an equal opportunity. Instead of skincolour, you could also fill in for example a woman, man, gay, handicapped. Other example: One is born rich, the other is poor. The rich guy has the money to get educated. In some countries, the poor doesn't. So, they don't have an equal opportunity. This goes for many things. Healthcare is one of them.
