  • If I'm not mistaken, the driving age is 16 in the United States. There are some things to ask yourself though: 1. Does he have a regular license and know ALL the rules of the road? 2. Who will pay for the bike? If it's you, do you really want to spend money on something that would endanger his life? 3. Don't you think he MUST practice before the test? If he doesn't then he will basically make a fool out of himself. My dad took his test a few years ago and it's not as easy as you may think. So my answer would be, yes, he needs to practice (A LOT) before taking the test, but he should definitly chip into the motorcycle. I did have a look around on the internet and that motorcycle is the newest motorcycle which is considered safe. I think it could be a great bike for him...but just when he gets older, maybe when hes 16 1/2 or 17.
  • Learning a clutch on a bike is totally different from a car. But he will have to understand what a clutch is for. I got my first bike, and i took it slow but crashed quite a few times before i got good. I only rode around the house and in the driveway. After about 2 weeks he should be able to take his test. He will have to do tight loops and a figure 8. Make sure he has plenty of room when he starts out the very first time on the bike, I've seen many beginners crash into something when they panic. One guy only went 10 feet and ran into a pole and broke his ankle.
  • The best thing you could do, when he's old enough, would be to sign him up for a motorcycle safety course. He will learn more there than anywhere and under a controlled environment.
  • sure you should let him do it but first test if he is responsible by giving him a loaded gun and tell him to be careful
  • first bikes get dropped, you should get a used bike to save the damage that will surely occur. If he has ridden dirt bikes, didnt they have a clutch? unless they were 50 cc bikes, maybe he sjould get a dirt bike. They are expected to have some small damage, but dirt doesnt scar as bad as pavement. Definitley, the motorcycle safety class, and full gear.
