  • they are a hermaphrodite. Doctors will sometimes take liberties to alter what's there so it appears more one sex than another. Sometimes they choose wrong and the person's gender identity is backwards. Sometimes the parents decide what to do. I think in the past, the doctors just would snip-snip-snip and suture, and hope for the best, but I think things are approached a little more professionally now. It happens a lot more often than you'd think.
  • It happens frequently in goats...they are hermaphrodites.
  • It's possible since they develop from different tissues, but you don't really find people with 2 full working sets of sex organs as much as ambiguous genitals. Intersexuals fall into many catagories, it can be caused by genetics or developmental mistakes. What happens depends on where you live, who your parents are, what your doctor's opinion's are, and what is possible to do. What should happen is just acceptence until the person is old enough to decide for themselves whether they want to alter their body and how they want to define their gender.
  • A hermaphrodite is an organism that possesses both male and female sex organs Pseudohermaphroditism or psuedo-hermaphroditism, is a name used to describe the fact that some people are born with external sex organs that look intermediate between the typical vagina or penis. Some parents choose to raise their child as is...and some choose to perform a sex change operation and basically choose their sex for them. I have seen some documentaries on this and it can be very troubling what parents face as well as the choices they make.
